Company History

Back on January 27, 1880, when Mr. Edward B. Hayward surveyed a parcel of land on Foundry Street in Easton, Massachusetts, (Survey #1) we doubt that he had any idea of the future of his new business. Mr. Hayward went on to become a highly respected Land Surveyor and Engineer, Providing expertise in many local and county Atlases, bridge and dam design and even providing the original Master Plan for the town of El Jobean, Florida. Upon the retirement of E.B. Hayward, in 1941, Kenneth C. Hayward conducted the firm until his retirement.

The last member of the Hayward family retired in 1955 and the firm was taken over by Mr. J. Caroll Boynton who had 25 years of Surveying and Engineering experience in the Brockton area. In 1969, Mr. James B. Williams, a long time member of the firm, became a co-owner and upon the retirement of Mr. Boynton, became the owner to date. Although the name of the company has been changed several times throughout the years, the efficiency, quality, professionalism, and workmanship instilled by E.B. Hayward has only improved as witnessed by the excellent reputation of the present firm, Hayward-Boynton & Williams Inc.

Many years of steady growth has produced a staff of over 40 highly qualified Professional Engineers, Land Surveyors, Technicians and Administrative staff. With long established offices in the cities of Taunton, Brockton and Attleboro, Massachusetts, we are uniquely situated and have provided services throughout the states of Massachusetts, Rhode Island and southern New Hampshire

Records

Ancient records of old, established property corners are one of the Land Surveyor’s most valuable tools. It is the surveyor’s responsibility to reproduce the property boundaries that were originally established for the property being surveyed. Our firm was founded in 1880 by Edward B. Hayward of Easton, Massachusetts. Since that time we have acquired the records of numerous other Land Surveyors throughout this area. A vast number of those original corners have long since been lost. With the original field books, calculation sheets and plans, that were the product of these surveyors, we are able to reproduce the actual property location established at the time of that original survey.
